EMSP 1338 Intro to Advanced Practice

An exploration of the foundations necessary for mastery of the advanced topics of clinical practice out of the hospital.  At the completion of this course, the student will understand the roles and responsibilities of a paramedic within the EMS system and apply the basic concepts of development, pathophysiology and pharmacology to assessment and management of emergency patients.  They will also be able to properly administer medication; communicate effectively with patients; and understand the medical/legal and ethical issues relating to EMS practice as well as the issues impacting the wellbeing of the paramedic.  Prerequisites:  TSI Complete, CPR, BIOL 2401/2404, EMSP 1501, EMSP 1160, NREMT, Co-Requisites: EMSP 1356, EMSP 2306
