Child Development
CDEC 1164 Practicum-Child Development
Format: (1 credit hour)
160 external learning experience required. Practical general workplace training supported by an individualized learning plan developed by the employer and student. Every student must complete and pass a criminal background check and be accepted into licensed child care program to participate in classroom observations and activities.

Study of the child, family, community, and schools. Includes parent education and involvement, family and community lifestyles, child abuse, and current family life issues. Course content is aligned with State Board for Educator Certification Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities standards. Requires students to participate in a minimum of 16 hours of field experience with children from infancy through age 12 in a variety of settings with varied and diverse populations.
