Library Services


The Navarro College Libraries serve students, faculty, and staff at the NC locations in Corsicana, Mexia, Midlothian, and Waxahachie as well as students enrolled in online classes. The library’s core collection includes over 56,000 print books and 35,000 eBooks. Through online and print serials subscriptions, the library provides access to the full text of thousands of magazines, newspapers, and scholarly journals. Online resources include a complete streaming video collection of The BBC Shakespeare Plays and Academic Video Online, a collection of thousands of videos including documentaries from PBS and movies from Sony Pictures Classics.

Interlibrary loan services enable students to borrow materials from libraries throughout the United States while intercampus loan services ensure to students at the Mexia, Midlothian, and Waxahachie locations can readily access books and other materials in the Richard M. Sanchez Library at the Corsicana location. A librarian will, upon request of faculty at any NC location, provide formal classroom instruction in the efficient use of the library’s information resources. Video tutorials on the use of library materials and services can be found on the library’s website. A number of course-specific online library Libguides provide a wealth of additional instructional material on subjects such as plagiarism, citation formats, research methods, and evaluating and using internet resources.

A laptop Kiosk in the Sanchez Library provides 30 laptops for checkout. The Sanchez Library also includes one classroom.

The Samuels’ Hobbit Collection, a unique collection of thirty-eight wood sculptures representing characters from J. R. R. Tolkien’s novel The Lord of the Rings, is on display in the library.
