Advanced Manufacturing Technology

Program Information

The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) prepares students for high-demand careers in advanced manufacturing, industrial maintenance, automation, and production operations. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experiences, and employer engagement, students develop technical competencies in mechanical systems, electrical systems, fluid power, automation, robotics, precision measurement, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

The program incorporates the nationally recognized Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) model, which emphasizes technical excellence, professional behaviors, and real-world industry experience. Students learn to operate, maintain, and improve advanced manufacturing systems while developing critical workplace skills such as teamwork, communication, reliability, and leadership. Graduates are prepared for careers as industrial maintenance technicians, manufacturing technicians, automation technicians, and other skilled technical positions in modern manufacturing environments. The degree also provides a pathway for students wishing to pursue additional industry certifications or a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) degree.

Additional Information

The Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) program is offered at the Corsicana campus and is delivered in partnership with regional manufacturing employers. FAME students participate in a work-and-learn model that combines college coursework with paid industry experience, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge in real manufacturing environments while earning income and building professional networks.

The program is designed to meet the workforce needs of advanced manufacturing employers in Navarro College's service area and surrounding region. Students gain exposure to industry-standard equipment, manufacturing processes, continuous improvement principles, industry-based certifications, and workplace leadership practices that prepare them for long-term career success.

For additional information, contact the Dean of Workforce and Career Pathways at 903.875.7667.
